The trio SUTARI is the strength of female voices intertwining in a unique harmony. Their sound is a fusion of trance-like, polyphonic compositions blending polish traditional music with contemporary sensitivity revolving around themes of nature, freedom and sisterhood. Under the name SUTARInova the band is departing from their previous format to rediscover what is most fundamental in music to them through the freshness of improvisation and contemporary electronic sounds. In 2025 they invited Filip Zakrzewski to co-create - an improviser, sound engineer and producer mixing and processing Sutari's sounds live.

Sutari is one of Poland's leading export bands. Since their debut in 2012 at the Polish Radio, they have performed hundreds of concerts at major festivals and stages in 22 countries worldwide. In 2015 they recorded a music session for the iconic American radio station KEXP.

We are thrilled to announce that during the 10th edition of Jazztopad Festival NYC, SutariNova will share the stage with a New York-based producer and multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily.

Presented in collaboration with the National Forum of Music in Wroclaw in partnership with the Polish Cultural Institute New York, the Adam Mickiewicz Institute.

Over the past twenty years, the Jazztopad Festival, distinguished by its embrace of traditional sounds from distant parts of the world not necessarily associated with jazz, has commissioned new work from renowned artists from the US and Europe. Henning Bolte of Jazzhalo wrote: “Jazztopad Festival making it possible to experience internationally highly profiled musicians in a variety of situations (concert hall, club, private homes, combinations of it, also informal ones). All appearances of chosen musicians and music always felt as a very typical Jazztopad one and are remembered with a strong trace in one’s memory.”

The American edition of Jazztopad is, above all, an opportunity to meet the most important musicians of the Polish contemporary jazz scene, a recognizable brand that presents work of the highest caliber. “A model for what a jazz festival can be, Jazztopad is fertile soil for commissioned works and adventure-minded programming,” says Josef Woodard of DownBeat.
